Concrete sealer
Concrete sealers are used when you need your concrete to become impenetrable. For example when you are constructing a fountain, you will need a protective layer that prevents the concrete from getting soaked. Apart from getting soaked sealers also help concrete to withstand damage from traffic, dirt and chemical agents.
Two types of concrete sealers are film formers and penetrates. Film formers coat the concrete with a layer of shine and help block out unwanted agents. Film formers are also used to enhance objects because of their shine. On the other hand penetrates seep into the concrete and stop unwanted agents, fighting from within the concrete.
To decide what type of concrete sealer you should buy, answer the following questions. What do you want the surface to look like? What type of maintenance are you able to do? If you want a polished and gleaming look then you should go with the film formers. If you want a matte finish you should go with the penetrate. what kind of coating will you be able to preserve?
Film formers are slippery while penetrates are not. If you want to use a concrete sealer for the driveway, you need a coating that can be cleaned, a coating that repels grease and oil. If you want a sealer for domestic use then you need something that dustproofs the surface and can resist a lot of scrubbing. The easiest way to apply concrete sealer is with a paint roller and then let it dry. Usually only one coat is needed.
