Roof coating
Roof coating is a gigantic cover that is attached to your roof. It has properties like elasticity that assist with seasonal temperature changes. This helps it to stretch and come back to it’s original position without breaking or tearing.
Roof coating is the topmost layer on your roof so it bears the burden of thunder storms, the impact of sunlight, hail, cyclones and any physical damage. Reflective roof coating helps the roof to remain neutral to weather changes while protecting it against the sun. They extend the life of the roof by a large margin. Research also proves that roof coating can help lower temperatures within your house which leads to lower air conditioning bills and a better indoor climate.
Before coating the roof it is best to inspect the roof for leakages, fungi, cracks, holes or any other flaws. These need to be taken care of before the roof can be pressure washed and it has to dry completely before any coat can be applied.
Primers are not very famous although they improve the adhesion between the existing roof substate and the topcoat. On some roofs priming is not necessary but when in doubt it is better to use a primer.
Today roof coatings are applicator friendly therefore they can be applied with brushes, rollers or sprays. It is advisable to use airless sprays for excellent results. The usual way is to apply two to three separate layers of coating. Always let the previous coat dry before putting a new coat.
