Roof coatings
Roof coatings provide numerous advantages that are easily overlooked once the roof looks nice and cheerful.
The main advantage is that roof coatings prevent leakages. If the roof has been soaked in one place, but not to the point where you have to replace the roof, it can still perform all you need is a roof coating.
Another central benefit is that some roof coatings are reflective in nature. This means that they reflect the sun’s rays back to where they came from. This helps in keeping the temperatures down in the house and dramatically reduce air conditioning bills and gives a better indoor climate.
Coatings also serve the purpose of improving roof aesthetics. Many types of roof coatings are available in the market. Polymer-modified acrylic elastomers and polyureas, asplalt cutbacks and emulsions, silicones, SPF and high performance urethanes. Even if you have to refer to the dictionary for the technical terms then we have the broad categories of tinted roof coatings, white roof coatings, elastomeric, aluminum and metal roof coating. Roof coatings should be chosen carefully keeping in mind the surface of your roof.
White roof coatings are made thick and are reflective. They have a white pigment, titanium dioxide along with transparent polymeric materials such as acrylics. Elastomeric roof coatings are very versatile in nature; they remain flexible at low temperatures, are elastic, reflective and can be used on a variety of roofs. Examples include single-ply, metal, asphalt, polyurethane foam or concrete roofs.
